Commercial

Across our Group we offer a wide range of commercial services. These all have a number of roles available, with opportunities in our College refectories, community cafes, nurseries, gym and our commercial lettings service. Customer experience sits the heart of every one of these roles, which is why we want to hear from you if you’re committed and passionate about delivering the best for every one of our clients.

Michael Simpson
Senior Nursery Manager

EKC Commercial Services

My dedicated and reliable team of childcare practitioners are paid the Real Living Wage as a minimum, providing them with greater job security and better salaries than they would find in nursery settings elsewhere.

I am proud to be part of an organisation that appreciates the skills and experience of its staff and offers valued childcare practitioners a respectable wage and opportunities to develop.

Deborah Ottley
Skylight Café Manager

EKC Commercial Services

The thing I like most about working for EKC Group is the relaxed environment I work in. I don't feel like I am under pressure from the usual targets you would normally get in hospitality. The staff around me are amazing and always supportive.

I have good working hours and I get bank holidays off, which in hospitality is very rare, and my salary reflects the work I do.

My favourite part of my job is the satisfaction I get from mentoring the supported learning students on their work placement.

Gregg Skinsley-Stephens
College Services Manager

Previously, Commercial Centre Manager at Canterbury Sports Centre

The main benefits of working for the Group is primarily related to job security and progression. Within the Sports and Leisure industry, it is difficult to be able to climb the career ladder given the volume of staff in that industry, this is one advantage of working for the Group as the diverse nature of the business allows for continued progression at all levels.

Job security is another element that the industry cannot offer that EKC Group can. There is a large proportion of self-employed workers within the Sports and Leisure industry that benefits the organisations they work for but not the ‘employee’ such as policies surrounding holiday, sickness and wellbeing. This is one area where the Group is very forward thinking in its approach and ethos towards and employees’ wellbeing which I have not seen in other organisations I’ve worked for.

Mason Mirzada
Commercial Team Leader

EKC Commercial Services

The Group has a really nice culture that allows employees to work freely, but with plenty of support from senior staff. I’ve always felt really motivated and appreciated by leaders within the organisation. There are a lot of employee-friendly policies and initiatives from the HR team, and wellbeing certainly takes centre stage. Many events are organised by HR and celebrated properly by employees. They have a superb canteen facility and delicious food. The variety and quality of food is definitely worth mentioning here. Staff who are fasting are also provided for, and food can be arranged for them when they want it.

Tammy-Ann Hockley
Early Years Practitioner

EKC Commercial Services

I have been working for The Nursery at Canterbury College as an Early Years Practitioner in the preschool room for nearly 3 years. I chose to work here as I wanted more experience with working with families from different countries and cultures. I work within a brilliant team of people who support and respect each other, and we are led by an excellent manager who encourages us to better our skills and guides us to provide the best care and education for the children of the nursery. I am excited to come to work every day as each day is different, and I know that through working at this nursery I am making a difference to the lives of our children and families. I have learnt a lot during my time working here and become a much better practitioner and am looking forward to learning even more in the future.
