About The Role

East Kent Colleges Group are working in collaboration with BRIT Kids and have an exciting opportunity for you to undertake teaching within a specific section as part of the BRIT Kids Saturday morning classes programme at our Canterbury College.

Are you a passionate teacher in the Arts? Well this could be the position for you. BRIT Kids are fee paying performing, creative and media arts classes that run on Saturdays. BRIT kids is part of The BRIT School, a unique free school for the Performing and Creative arts.

Main responsibilities will be:
  • To plan, prepare and deliver all classes yourself
  • To monitor attendance and punctuality, keeping accurate and up to date registers.
  • To prepare students for performances or exhibitions and open days.
  • To attend team meetings as required.
  • To attend to the health and safety and safeguarding of all children.
  • To follow the BRIT Kids discipline procedure, keeping the Director informed of students with behavioural problems.
  • To cater for AEN students
This is a supply (Bank Staff) position and work is organised on a supply basis. Currently the work required is for 3 hours a week (on a Saturday), with extended hours for meetings.

About You

We are looking for a Fashion Teacher to deliver a specialist fashion design and production class.

At BRIT Kids we ask teachers to be creative, contemporary and self-directed.

We want teaching at BRIT Kids to be the highlight of your week. We believe that allowing teachers to devise and create your own class content, means that you have ownership over what you are delivering and therefore passion and knowledge to deliver at a high level.

You are asked to devise your own projects and write your own schemes of work, with support and guidance, when needed by the Director. The emphasis on contemporary, unique and challenging is important to us. You are encouraged to take risks and step out of your comfort zone.

The joy of teaching at BRIT Kids is that although we have high expectations, level descriptors and ask for schemes of work overviews, you are not confined by a curriculum.

You will be expected to write Schemes of Work overviews and run to the BRIT Kids ethos which celebrates creativity through challenging, bespoke and contemporary teaching.

Please contact the Resourcing Team at [email protected] if you have any queries about this position.
